The purpose of Health Education is to study physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. The course seeks to provide each student with the information and skills necessary to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Topics to be covered include:  Unit 1 Health Triangle  Unit 4 Alcohol  Unit 2 Fitness  Unit 5 Drugs  Unit 3 Tobacco  Unit 6 Choosing the Best</p><p>Materials: You are expected to bring the following materials to class on a daily basis.  Spiral Notebook designated for Health that stays in room  Pencil and blue/black ink pen *Please keep colored pencils/markers, a glue stick, and a ruler in your locker to bring for occasional projects. </p><p>Evaluation: A grade for this course will be determined as follows:  Summative (Test and Projects) 80%  Formative (Class work and Homework) 20% 100% Make-up Work: It is expected that all students complete all assignments. Rather than giving a grade of zero for work that has not been completed, students will be assigned morning detention to complete the missing assignments. If the assignments have still not been completed, the student will receive an Administrative Referral and will be assigned to ISS for a final opportunity to complete outstanding work. Not doing the work is not an option at SFMS! The Media Center will be open every day at 8:00 am in order to provide students with the opportunity to utilize the school facilities—including computers with Internet access—to complete school work.
