<p>Dear [Potential Donor],</p><p>On Saturday, May 13th, 2017, I will be participating in the 6th Annual Allyson Whitney 5K Walk/Run on the scenic roads of Kauneonga Lake in upstate New York. </p><p>The Allyson Whitney Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that empowers and fights for the interests of young adults with rare cancers. Their vision is to improve the quality of life, as well as provide emotional support for patients. The foundation primarily provides individuals with ‘life interrupted’ grants™ to ease their financial burden so that they can concentrate their energy on healing.</p><p>● Each year, over 70,000 young adults between the ages of 15 and 39 are diagnosed with cancer (These statistics have had little improvement in the past 2 decades according to the NCI). ● A rare cancer is one with a prevalence of fewer than 200,000 affected individuals in the United States. ● More than 50% of people diagnosed with cancer are diagnosed with a rare form of the disease (The rare cancers do not receive funding for research).</p><p>Unfortunately, we all know someone who has, had, or is battling cancer. The statistics of young adults who are suffering from a rare cancer are scary!
