<p>Professor Luiz Fernando Coelho</p><p>LUIZ FERNANDO COELHO is a professor of Legal Philosophy, having taught at the Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR), at the Federal University of the State of Paraná (UFPR) and at the Federal University of the State of Santa Catarina (UFSC). He currently teaches Legal Hermeneutics at the Paranaense University (UNIPAR) and Legal Logic at the Law School of the University Center “Eurípedes”, in Marília, State of São Paulo. In both institutions, Professor Coelho is a member of the program of Post-graduation in Law.</p><p>Professor Coelho is a specialist in Comparative Law: he studied the Common Law at the Washington University, in Saint Louis, MI, in the U.S., and took several courses at the International Institute of Comparative Law in Barcelona, Spain, offered in cooperation with the Universities of Coimbra, Strasbourg and Fribourg. Professor Coelho got his PhD in Social Sciences and in Legal Philosophy at the Federal University of the State of Santa Catarina, where he also developed the research that resulted in the book “Critical Theory of Law”, an innovative work that presented the foundations of a movement responsible for the renewal of Legal Philosophy in Brazil and abroad, being the subject of several courses, seminars and conferences.</p><p>Professor Coelho also gave several courses, among which “Legal Logic and Hermeneutics”, specially addressed to members of the Judiciary, in the cities of Porto Alegre, Vitória and Campo Grande. During the courses that took place in the city of Porto Alegre, in the 1980s, the foundations of the “Alternative Law” movement were first launched, as the result of serious discussions about the conflict between the legal system and the needs of the society for judicial protection. </p><p>Currently, Professor Coelho is well known as an international lecturer, having participated of seminars in Buenos Aires, Rosário and Córdoba, in Argentina; Seville and Barcelona, in Spain; New York, in the U.S.; Coimbra, in Portugal, Amsterdam, in the Netherlands and Lund, in Sweden. He has a vast scientific production, having written the following books: “Critical Theory of Law”, “Legal Logic and the Interpretation of Laws”, “Theory of Jurisprudence”, “State Foundations”, “Historic Introduction to Legal Philosophy”, “Remembrance of the Future”, and, among several essays, “In Dubio Pro Natura” and “Human Cloning And The Future of Institutions”. </p>
