Arsenault is the Program Coordinator for the Emergency Management Program at the Community College of Rhode Island. The college offers an associate degree and a certificate in Emergency Management. He is actively working on course development, marketing the program, and online program development. Mr. Arsenault developed a career tool called Pathways in Emergency Management for working with students. A proposed certificate in Homeland Security, with a concentration in Emergency Management or Criminal Justice, is planned for spring 2013.</p><p>Mr. Arsenault has been involved in emergency services for more than 22 years, starting in the Providence Fire Department; he spent time in the EMS, Fire Suppression, and Training Divisions. He has been volunteering in his hometown of Richmond, Rhode Island, as the local Emergency Management director since 1999, and he continues in that position today.</p><p>Mr. Arsenault is the current president of the Rhode Island Association of Emergency Managers. He is also a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and is working towards obtaining his Certified Emergency Manager designation. Since the 1990s, Mr. Arsenault has been active in disaster training as a player; actor; exercise developer, controller, and evaluator; and survivor management specialist. He has created injuries (moulage) for plane crashes, train wrecks, explosions, active school shooters, and chemical incidents. By researching disasters, he creates a lifelike scene for the exercise.</p><p>Mr. Arsenault earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Roger Williams University and his master’s degree in emergency management at Jacksonville State University. His research interests are disaster convergence, mass casualty management, and bridging the gap between academics and practitioners.</p><p>May 14, 2012</p>
