<p>Bearing Fruit: John 15:1-16</p><p>Introduction: Read John 15:1-16</p><p>Body:</p><p>1. It's God's will that you bear fruit. (16) a. much fruit (8) b. loud fruit (8) c. permanent fruit (16)</p><p>2. You only bear fruit by abiding in Jesus. (4,5) a. abide = meno = to dwell within the boundaries of b. "...apart from Me, you can do nothing." (5)</p><p>3. If you bear fruit, you will be pruned. (2) a. it's a promise (2) b. it has a purpose (2) see also James 1:2,3 c. it can hurt</p><p>4. Sometimes painful, difficult times can come from: a. devil b. our own sin and poor choices c. the Father</p><p>5. It's important that we be able to discern where it's coming from because that determines our response. a. devil = resist, stand firm b. self = confess and repent c. Father = trust and hold on</p><p>Conclusion:</p><p>1. God wants you to bear fruit.</p><p>2. You can't bear fruit unless you abide in Christ.</p><p>3. If you bear fruit, He'll prune you.</p><p>It can hurt, but God is good and He loves you. He's more interested in your character than your comfort. As He's being about making you like Jesus, you'll experience "growing pains." He can seem distant, cruel, unfair...but He's working in you just the same...out of love, for your ultimate best interest.</p>
