<p> Accelerated Reader Honor Code Riverwood Middle School</p><p>The Accelerated Reader program is an important part of 6th grade Language Arts. The points that you receive for taking and passing AR tests are an objective measurement of your independent reading.</p><p>The points for each book are calculated by a mathematical formula including book length (number of words) and difficulty. Your points indicate the quantity and quality of your independent reading. Our school only recommends reading books that are housed in our library because secondary (6th – 12th grade) AR novels may include mature content. </p><p>As this is an independent assignment, you are responsible for reading your book(s) and taking tests by the due date. You are also responsible for being honest and trustworthy – that means not cheating!</p><p>What is cheating? 1. It is cheating to take a test over a book you have not read.</p><p>2. It is cheating to take a test over a book you have read during a previous school year at RMS or at another school.</p><p>3. It is cheating to take a test over a book which has been made into a movie, unless you have also read the book.</p><p>4. It is cheating to use Cliff Notes, Spark Notes, classic comic books, videos, or abridged versions of the book to try to pass a test over a book you have not read.</p><p>5. It is cheating to copy the test questions and/or answers.</p><p>6. It is cheating to tell someone the test questions and/or answers.</p><p>7. It is cheating to ask someone to tell you the test questions and/or answers.</p><p>Any student caught cheating will receive a zero for that 9 weeks AR grade. In addition, cheating is a violation of the Humble ISD student code and there may be other penalties involved.</p><p>I have read and understand the rules about cheating on Accelerated Reader.
