<p> INTRODUCTION TO PERFORMANCE BASED NAVIGATION SEMINAR</p><p>Nairobi, Kenya </p><p>1 to 4 December 2008</p><p>SPEAKER INFORMATION</p><p>Erwin Lassooij started his career in ICAO in the year 2000. Currently he is responsible for the Performance based navigation programme, he is Chairman and Secretary of the Required Navigation Performance Special Operational Requirements Study Group. He is also the Secretary of the ICAO Instrument Flight Procedures Panel, formerly known as the Obstacle Clearance Panel.</p><p>Mr. Lassooij started his career in civil aviation in the Netherlands. First at the National Aerospace Laboratory in the Netherlands where he worked on performance requirements for aircraft, then as deputy head of the department of flight technical affairs at the Civil Aviation Authority. In this capacity Mr. Lassooij contributed to various international operational and ATM related fora in Europe and at a global level. </p><p>Mr. Lassooij holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Delft. He also holds a Private Pilot Licence. </p><p>Picture not available Joe McCarthy is the Acting Manager of the FAA Air Traffic Organization's RNAV/RNP Group. As such, he is responsible for the implementation of all RNAV and RNP routes and procedures throughout the U.S. National Airspace System. Immediately prior to joining the RNAV/RNP Group, he worked in the Headquarters FAA Terminal Operations Service, playing a key role in the activation of the new Dulles Control Tower. Joe brings a wealth of operational expertise to the RNAV/RNP Group, with over twenty years experience as a line controller, operations supervisor and in staff and management positions in a variety of radar and tower air traffic control facilities, including Potomac Consolidated TRACON, Dulles International Airport Control Tower, Chicago TRACON and Cincinnati Tower. -2-</p><p>Alex Hendriks has worked for Eurocontrol since 1991, where between 1993 and July 2006 he was the Head of Airspace / Flow Management & Navigation. In July 2006 he was appointed as Deputy Director ATM Strategies, with specific responsibilities for setting the airspace and navigation strategies. At the same time, he was also appointed as Acting Director and Programme Manager for the Central European CEATS project. Since 2002 he is also Director of the U.S. Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA), responsible for the Europe, Middle East & Africa Area. </p><p>Lex is an active airline pilot and currently flies Boeing B737-700/800 aircraft. He has a radar-controller’s license and from 1981 until 1986 he was elected for three terms of office as Executive Vice President Technical of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Associations (IFATCA). In that capacity he participated in many global and regional ICAO meetings, the most important of which was ICAO’s FANS Committee</p><p>Roland Rawlings is Navigation Manager working within the Airspace, Network Planning and Navigation Division of EUROCONTROL. An avionics engineer by background he has worked at EUROCONTROL since 1985 initially in the Research and Development area. He has headed the Navigation activities in EUROCONTROL since 1996 and therefore responsible for the navigation elements of a number of developments in ECAC including B-RNAV (RNAV 5) and P-RNAV (RNAV-1). As the Eurocontrol member to ICAO’s Instrument Flight Procedures Panel and a Eurocontrol representative to ICAO’s RNP Special Operational Requirements Study Group (RNPSORSG), he has been involved in the development of the Performance Based Navigation concept. -3-</p><p>Barbara Cassidy is an air traffic implementation Picture not available specialist for the Area Navigation (RNAV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) Division in the Air Traffic Organization of the Federal Aviation Administration. Before assuming her present duties, she worked in the FAA’s Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and Next Generation Air/Ground Communications (NEXCOM) Program Offices. Prior to joining the FAA in 1999, Ms. Cassidy spent 21 years in the United States Air Force. Her tours of duty included Chief of Air Traffic Operations in a terminal radar and control tower facility, Chief of the U.S. Air Force’s European Instrument Procedures (TERPS) Office, and a variety of aircraft control-related assignments.</p><p>Ken Alexander is the Navigation Systems Engineer and Team Lead for the FAA Aircraft Certification Service, Avionics Branch. </p><p>Ken holds a commercial pilot license and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering. He has over thirty years of aviation experience including: military flight ops, avionics technical standards and policy development, navigation systems engineering, acquisition program management, and international policy development. Ken has supported both the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Executive Committee and the Air Force GPS Wing as the civil team lead for GPS III satellite and control segment modernization. </p><p>Robert Carty is an Aviation Safety Inspector with the FAA Flight Standards Service, Flight Technologies and Procedures Division. His primary area of responsibility involves the coordination and development of policies and procedures for Area Navigation (RNAV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) operations in the terminal, en route, and approach domains. His efforts have most recently been in the area of approving both operators and aircraft manufacturers for RNP SAAAR (AR) operations. During his thirty years of pilot experience, Inspector Carty has flown C130 and C141s for the United States Air Force, Airbus 319,320,321s and Boeing 737-300/400s with a major US air carrier. -4-</p><p>Volker Meyer was born in Potsdam, Germany in 1960. He obtained his university degree as a teacher of Russian and English in 1985 and as a teacher of Russian and English flight radio communication at the Air Force Academy of the GDR.</p><p>From 1985 to 1990 he was a teacher of Russian and English flight radio communications at the state airline of the GDR "Interflug".</p><p>He has been with Jeppesen since 1991, starting in the AIS and database department from 1991 to 1993. Then he was in charge of the ROSSJEPP project - cooperation with the Russian Centre of Aeronautical Information to 1997. He then became Manager, Aviation Organisations and Government Programs and Manager, Airline Sales in 2000, then Country Executive, Russia in 2005. </p><p>Mr. Meyer currently is the Manager, International Aviation Affairs for Jeppesen.</p><p>Prosper ZO’O-MINTO’O is Assistant Regional Director, Safety, Operations and Infrastructure (SO&I), IATA – Africa and Indian Ocean (AFI) Regional Office, Johannesburg, South Africa. His main responsibilities include the development, promotion and implementation of relevant airline industry policies in Africa, under the supervision of IATA Regional Director, Safety, Operations and Infrastructure. </p><p>Before joining IATA on 1 April 2008, he had held various managerial positions at international organizations such as the Agency for the safety of aerial navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) from 1985 to 1999, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) from 1999 to 2008. </p><p>Prosper Zo’o-Minto’o is the holder of an Engineering Degree in Civil Aviation, an Engineering Degree in Electronics Applications, and a Master’s Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. -5-</p><p>Johnny Woods (John Bretton Woods) 58 year old, married with 4 children and 3 grand children</p><p>I have been in love with aviation all my life and earned a flying license (PPL) before I had a driver’s license.</p><p>Amassed some 19,000 hours of flying hours, flown a multitude of light aircraft as well as DC-3, HS-748, Boeing 707/727/737/747 Classic/744/777, Airbus A319/A320/A340/A380,</p><p>I have been a Training and Line Check Captain on most Boeing and Airbus models and have been the Chief Pilot of South African Airways for over 10 years, currently the Head of Flight Operations. I hold a Master of Business Aviation Degree from Henley Management College (UK).</p><p>Outside interests are my family, golf & rugby and I am busy completing a RV-7 homebuilt aerobatic aircraft to teach my children and grandchildren to fly.</p><p>— END —</p>
