<p> OUR MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to serve veterans, their families and their communities.</p><p>The meeting of the Auxiliary Unit 136 was called to order by President,Tracy Kinnick at 7:00 p.m. with 22 members present, prayer by Joanna Ehrlich-Brown followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble. </p><p>Welcome Guest/New Member: Kryslyn Henderson from Douglas High School and Shae Blaise from Mulvane High School</p><p>Minutes: June Minutes were read by Debbie Morris. Motion made by Trish Carroll to approve the minutes as published, 2nd by Sheryl Carpenter; Motion approved by membership vote.</p><p>Treasurer’s report: No Report due to absence of Treasurer, Nancy Johnson. Pat Johnston turned in receipt for stamps to be given to treasurer for payment.</p><p>Chaplain’s report: Joanna Ehrlich-Brown [email protected]. Thinking of you cards were sent to Debbie Crawford and Connie Evans due to the illness of their mother. Thinking of you card sent to Elsie Jenkins due to her illness and hospitalization. A thinking of you card was sent to Nancy Johnson due to the illness of her father. Another Thinking of You card was sent to Elsie Jenkins due to her continued illness. A sympathy card was sent to Nancy Johnson for the loss of her father. </p><p>Children and Youth/JR Activities: No report this month.</p><p>Historian: Carolyn Kitchens reported that the history posters were displayed at the National Auxiliary President’s dinner on July 8, 2017 and were very well received. The posters will be taken to the Boot Camp on July 29, 2017 in Hutchinson, KS.</p><p>Villa Maria & Maria Court: Sheryl Carpenter reported on how good the July 4th cups and cards were received by the veterans. </p><p>VA&R Report: Sheryl Carpenter reported on the July 4th picnic at the Dole VA Medical Center from noon to 2pm. Sheryl also reported that volunteers will be needed for Bingo and the October County Fair. Dates and times to be announced. </p><p>Fundraisers: Debbie Crawford wants to send out thanks to all who contributed and helped with the Taryn Shivley fundraiser. To date, we have close to $5,000.00 for them. Debbie also reported that volunteers are needed for the George Shaw retirement party on July 28th, a list will be passed around. Camryn Carlson sang the National Anthem at the Kansas Star for the opening ceremony for the Marauder’s Car Show. Camryn did an excellent job.</p><p>Page 1 Membership report: Sheryl Carpenter reported 125 members. American Legion Auxiliary Passport to Volunteer 2017-2018 Department of Kansas books are $3.00 each and is a pocket activity guide for American Legion Auxiliary members who strive to become more engaged in the organization’s programs. See Sheryl if you would like one.</p><p>Volunteer Hours Report: No report.</p><p>Communications: Received a thank you card from Scott Circle for the cup and card given to him for July 4th. </p><p>New Business: Denny McDunnah came and talked to the Auxiliary about the Legacy Run and would like to request a donation from the Auxiliary. Trish Carroll made the motion to donate $100.00 and 2nd by Vickie Kalous; Debbie Crawford requested to amend the motion for the amount of the donation; Trish Carroll then rescinded her motion for $100.00 donation and Vickie Kalous rescinded her 2nd; New Motion by Debbie Crawford to donate $300.00 and 2nd by Carolyn Kitchens; Discussion by the membership; Deb Herndon made the motion to table motion for further information; but first Debbie Crawford rescinded her motion for $300.00 donation and Carolyn Kitchens rescinded her 2nd, then Deb Herndon made the motion to table this discussion until further information regarding the Legacy Run can be obtained. Did we get a 2nd for this motion, I was so frustrated I cant remember?</p><p>Connie Evans escorted Camryn Carlson to the front to receive her letter from the National Auxiliary President, Mary Davis. Camryn was also presented the National President’s Scholarship Patch.</p><p>Tracy Kinnick reported District 5 is having a Raffle and the proceeds will be put in the general fund to offset dues. Each ticket is $5.00 and only 1,500 tickets will be sold with the following prizes: 1st prize-$1,500.00; 2nd prize-$1,000.00; 3rd prize-$750.00; 4th prize-$500.00 and 5th prize-$250.00.
