Students will enhance their word processing using Word with the creation of career acquisition documents. Students will learn skills needed to succeed in high school and the workplace. Describe the history of computers. 2. Identify the parts of a computer system. 3. Save, open, & print files in Word. 4. Demonstrate competence in using editing, formatting, and proofreading techniques. 5. Use the writing tools feature of Word. 6. Use desktop publishing features in Word. 7. Create multi-page and MLA format of reports. 8. Create Tables in Word. 9. Explore various career paths using Career Cruising software.</p><p>Grading System Students will be graded equally on each of the following areas:</p><p>Classwork 25% Graded Assignments 25% Tests—Theory & Keying 50%</p><p>Tests will consist of objective questions; true/false, multiple choice, matching, along with hands-on problem(s). In addition, your Career Focus assignments will count as a test score. Quizzes will usually be unannounced and may be given on a weekly basis and will count as a test grade.</p><p>Students need to make sure that assignments are complete and correct in order to get credit for the assignment. All assignments must initially be submitted by the deadline date given in class. </p><p>Classroom Rules & Discipline 1. Be respectful—one person talks at a time, no inappropriate language, gestures, etc.</p><p>2. Be on time & be prepared—have your materials with you & ready to go at the beginning of class (your folder/notebook/textbook/writing utensil).</p><p>3. Make up all missed work as per the student handbook on Page 3. Failure to do so will result in a 0 for the missing items.</p><p>4. No food, gum, candy, or drinks are to be brought into the classroom.</p><p>5. No locker visitations.</p><p>6. Remain in your assigned seat. Students should only move from their seat when given permission to do so.</p><p>7. No sleeping in class.</p><p>8. The only program(s) that should be open is/are the program(s) being utilized. Writing/Research Assignment Requirements A research project on careers will be assigned and students will be using Career Cruising to complete the assignment.
