A JOINT RESOLUTION Designating Three Bridges in Greenup County in Honor and Memory of Our

<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 04/06/18 15 REG. SESS. 15 RS BR 289</p><p>A JOINT RESOLUTION designating three bridges in Greenup County in honor and memory of our nation's veterans. WHEREAS, it is the men and women of the Armed Forces who, since the inception of this great nation, have won and defended the freedoms that we now enjoy; and WHEREAS, the United States Armed Forces have intervened in countless conflicts around the world to stop the spread of tyranny, overthrow murderous despots, and allow the liberties we enjoy in this great nation to flourish around the world; and WHEREAS, the places that our servicemen and servicewomen have gone to secure and defend our liberties span the globe from Bunker Hill and the Alamo, to such far-flung locales as Bastogne, Normandy, Iwo Jima, Inchon, Saigon, and Kuwait City; and WHEREAS, time and again throughout this great nation's history, countless soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines have served their country with courage, diligence, and honor; and WHEREAS, at home and on foreign battlefields, row upon row of headstones stand as mute testimony to the courage and sacrifice of America's sons and daughters; and WHEREAS, thousands of patriotic men and women have answered their nation's call to service in times of great need, often giving the ultimate sacrifice; and WHEREAS, our veterans deserve our gratitude and recognition for their devotion and service to our nation and its citizens; and</p><p>WHEREAS, every citizen of the Commonwealth owes a great debt of gratitude to the patriotic men and women killed and wounded in service to their country in times of great need who deserve our thanks, recognition, and respect for their devotion and service to our Commonwealth and our nation; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p>Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on Kentucky Route 67 in Greenup County, near Interstate 64, south of East Park Drive, as the "World</p><p>Page 1 of 2 BR028900.100 - 289 - 3611 Jacketed UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 04/06/18 15 REG. SESS. 15 RS BR 289</p><p>War II Veterans Memorial Bridge," and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage.</p><p>Section 2. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge on United States Highway 23 in Greenup County, over Tygart Creek near South Shore, as the "Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge," and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage.</p><p>Section 3. The Transportation Cabinet shall designate Kentucky Route 8 in Greenup County, from the Carl D. Perkins Bridge to the U.S. Grant Bridge, as the "Veterans Memorial Mile," and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect the appropriate signage.</p><p>Page 2 of 2 BR028900.100 - 289 - 3611 Jacketed</p>
