<p> Special Interest/Lobbying Project</p><p>You Job is to: Make a Presentation, due April 8 (15 points) Create your own Lobbying Group. Include a Poster, Purpose, Slogan and Symbol </p><p> Include: your values, goals, quality of life, concern for others, concern for our posterity when choosing your special interest</p><p> Find a video, news story, or part of a movie that you would want to show the class to create interest in the topic.</p><p> Research statistics, case studies, find facts, data that support your position from reputable sources</p><p> Demonstrate the ability to see your special interest from an opposing point of view</p><p>3 News Article Topics (10 points each) 1. Hudson Valley Special Interest Group - March 18 2. NY State Special Interest Group – March 25 3. National Special Interest Group- April 1</p><p>1 Meeting, due April 3 (20 points - 5 Point Bonus) if you ask a legitimate question at the meeting which represents a larger idea you agree with or a concern you may have as a citizen.</p><p>Research Paper- April 10 ( 20 points) 2 to 3 pages- works cited throughout the paper as well as a works cited page at the end of the paper (MLA format, double spaced, regular margins, 12 font, Times New Roman) Promote your cause using existing research, statistics and case study</p><p> Discuss a lobbying group that already exists that has a similar goal(s)</p><p> Plan different ways to communicate effectively to various audiences (supporters, people who are undecided, people who are uninformed, opponents, or elected official who could act upon your interest)</p><p> Conclude with an explanation of who in government would be an effective choice to communicate with to promote your cause. 5 Community Service Hours, due April 22 (30 points)</p><p>→ → Remember these dates!!!
