<p>FIREFIGHTERS’ MANIFESTO IN FAVOUR OF CATALAN DEMOCRACY</p><p>We, the firefighters of...... fire station, condemn the violence with which the Spanish State tried to prevent the binding referendum held in Catalonia on 1 October 2017. Participation in the poll was peaceful and festive until the Spanish police forces acted to attack the population.</p><p>We denounce the violation of fundamental rights and the attempt to suppress freedom of expression, security and the free and secret ballot through the use of disproportionate force by the Spanish government.</p><p>We condemn the moral injustice and the breach of public order and the general well-being of Catalan democratic society committed by the politicised Spanish police during the events of 1 October.</p><p>Signed by the firefighters</p>
