If you share these values, are passionate about helping people in need and want to join a dedicated team, we have an excellent opportunity waiting for you!</p><p>We are looking for a Vision Impairment Specialist who will provide specialized services to families of young children with vision impairments, birth through five years of age. </p><p>Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides home visits to families, supporting parent/child interactions through developmentally appropriate play activities. 2. Works with families to develop curriculum appropriate for a child with vision impairment. 3. Conducts developmental and functional vision assessments using observation, parent interview and formal assessment strategies. 4. Actively collaborates with community-based providers of related services to overcome family barriers, such as language, culture and income. 5. Consults with professional community on behalf of children and families (attend medical visits; IFSP, IEP sessions; program visits, etc.). 6. Completes and maintains client case files (Face Sheet, Home Visit Log Notes, Developmental Profile, Family Program Plan, Physician Reports, Correspondence, Reports of Medical Visits, IFSPs, IEPs, etc.). 7. Follows agency guidelines for participation in the National Registry of Early Childhood Vision Impairment Project. 8. Maintains confidentiality of all students and their families.</p><p>Qualifications:</p><p>1. Education: a. Minimum of a Bachelor’s required in a related field; Master’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Child Development, Orientation and Mobility, Infant or Early Childhood, or Social Work, preferred. b. Teaching credential in Vision Impairment, Orientation & Mobility, Early Childhood Special Education, and/or a Certificate in Early Childhood Education, preferred. 2. Experience:</p><p> a. Professional preparation in the education of children with vision impairments, orientation and mobility, infant or early childhood development, and/or social work. b. Experience as a home teacher, preferred. c. Experience working in multi-cultural situations preferred. d. Experience/training in Active Learning techniques of Lilli Nielsen preferred. e. Child and Family Counseling background, preferred. f. Bilingual (Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese) preferred g. Willingness and ability to make frequent field visits, attend meetings, conferences and other job related events away from headquarters.
