Event chair couple, Mark and Cyndy Cook, event coordinators, Christine Stummer and Kathy Dietrich and silent auction chair Kat Miller began planning for this special evening almost a year ago. The night started off with a special cocktail party that was hosted by Pastor John Valencheck at the parish rectory for all event sponsors. When guests enter Zwisler Hall they were amazed at the transformation. The hall was decorated in shades of blues and silver. Beautiful floral centerpieces from Pink Petals Florist were displayed on every table. During the cocktail hour, guests mingled, bid on auction items and listened to the music of the SlapJazz Quartet. </p><p>Throughout the evening, attendees were able to bid on silent auction items including sports tickets, restaurant packages, one of a kind classroom projects and a variety of themed baskets. During the catered sit-down dinner, the live auction began. Some guests bid on trips to St. Croix, Utah and Tuscany while others bid on private catered parties, ultimate sports packages and even a private movie showing at the Highland Theatre. </p><p>The results from the evening were amazing. Over $120,000.00 was raised for the parish school. Part of the money raised from this year’s event will support one of the school’s initiatives with the creation of a makerspace. This lab environment provides a hands-on and creative way to challenge and encourage students to design, experiment, invent and build across all their classroom curriculums. The remaining dollars raised will support technology in the classrooms, further strengthen the future stability of the school through the school’s endowment and continue to make education affordable for every student.
