A RESOLUTION Honoring the Ohio County High School Eagles Boys Basketball Team, 2013 3Rd

<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 04/09/18 13 REG. SESS. 13 RS BR 1798</p><p>A RESOLUTION honoring the Ohio County High School Eagles Boys Basketball Team, 2013 3rd Region Champions. WHEREAS, on March 2, 2013, at the Owensboro Sportscenter, the Ohio County High School Eagles defeated the Aces of Owensboro Catholic by a score of 49-38 to capture the 3rd Region Championship, and advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2005; and WHEREAS, although they were defeated in the opening round of the Sweet Sixteen, the Eagles and their fans can take enormous pride in a successful season which saw them record 25 wins against only eight losses, including a perfect 5-0 record in the district and a 16-3 mark against 3rd Region competition; and WHEREAS, the Eagles started quickly this season, racing to a 12-0 mark out of the gate, then stumbled in late December and January, before rounding back into form in February to win ten consecutive games on their road to Rupp Arena; and WHEREAS, the Eagles' starting five were a balanced group, including seniors Preston Lambrich, who averaged 16.2 points per game, and Jonathan Wortham, who averaged 12.8 points per game; and juniors Trevor Lewis, the team's leading scorer at 16.5 points per contest, B.J. Morse, and Trent Hall; and WHEREAS, other members of the Eagles included senior Bo Bennett; sophomores Rhett Baggarly, John Callaway, Jake Griffin, Nate Morris, Blaine Patterson, Austin</p><p>Segers, and Drew Wagler; freshmen Travis Carter, Chris Logsdon, and Levi Patterson; and 8th graders Ross Tichenor and Trace Young; and WHEREAS, Ohio County was guided to the state tournament by Head Coach Paul Decker, who played for the Eagles in the 1991 state tournament and was an assistant coach on Ohio County's 2005 Sweet Sixteen squad, and has compiled a 144-91 record in eight seasons at the helm; and WHEREAS, other members of the staff for the Eagles were assistant coaches Alex C. SESS. 13 RS BR 1798</p><p> and Isaiah Smith; scorekeepers Brenda Albin and Kenneth Alford; statisticians Kelly Garner and Misty Decker; videographer Garrett Westerfield; and Wendy Russell; and WHEREAS, the 2013 Ohio County Eagles should be recognized and honored for their accomplishments, dedication, and hard work, and for the thrills that they gave to their supporters on their way to the Sweet Sixteen; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p> Section 1. The members of this Honorable Body, both individually and collectively, do hereby recognize and applaud the Ohio County Eagles Boys Basketball Team, Head Coach Paul Decker and his assistants and support staff, Athletic Director Charles W. Patton, Principal Greg Decker, and Superintendent Scott Lewis upon winning the 2013 3rd Region Basketball Championship, and wish the players and coaches good fortune in all future endeavors.</p><p>Section 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of this Resolution to Charles W.
