The SA Great Awards were held on Wednesday November 13th at the Mt Barker Cinema complex. The awards night also recognised excellence in business and tourism as well as sport. The award was presented by Buttercup to the coaches of the volleyball program, David Eldridge and Tara Read. The achievement ranks with the Prime Minister award for sport that the program won several years ago. The award was won from a very high standard group of nominations in the Adelaide Hills. </p><p>The school volleyball program has had the Open boys and Open girls teams nominated as finalists in the 2003 Messenger Youth Sports Awards. The winners will be announced in early December.</p><p>Heathfield is taking 17 teams to Melbourne to defend Australian Schools Cup to be held on December 7-12. This is a very large tournament with over 3500 participants, compare it with the Commonwealth Games has 4500 participants. Teams travel from all states and territories to compete in the event which is the largest school sporting event in the Southern Hemisphere. Heathfield won the overall school title last year by a record margin, incredibly taking out 5 out of the 6 much sought after Honour Divisions. </p>
