<p>MOUNT ST. HELENS ASSIGNMENT:</p><p>You are watching a DVD on Mount St. Helens. Please pay close attention, as there could be a quiz after the movie.</p><p>DURING THE MOVIE:</p><p>1. Make sure your composition book is out. 2. In your composition book under a section entitled, “Mount St. Helens Movie Notes,” please write down 15 facts from the movie. They do not need to be in complete sentences in your composition book. 3. Please refrain from talking at all. If you talk, your name will be written down, and all people whose names are written down will have at least a lunch detention and a parent contact.</p><p>AFTER THE MOVIE (you may start this tonight – we’ll finish the film tomorrow):</p><p>1. Find one family member or close family friend who remembers Mt. St. Helens. Write five interview questions for them. They must not be “yes” or “no” questions. 2. Interview the person, and write the interview in your composition book. We’ll be sharing in class.</p><p>JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT: In your composition book, write a journal entry from a person’s point of view that lived through the Mt. St. Helens eruption. This person lives in the Kelso-Longview area, so you will need to know where that area is in relation to the blast zone.</p><p>MOVIE NOTES: DUE WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6</p><p>ST. HELENS INTERVIEW: DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8</p><p>JOURNAL ENTRY: DUE MONDAY, OCTOBER 11</p><p>We will be taking notes most of the day Wednesday and Thursday, and doing some activities from the packet you read on Washington’s geology. Make sure you take advantage of class time Monday while watching the video (to take notes), and Tuesday after the video (to complete the other assignments).
