<p>Permissions for using or re-publishing ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright</p><p>The International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS) maintains a strong policy on publication and use of the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright and does not allow modification of them, unless there are very exceptional circumstances approved in advance by the ICS Chair (name and contact information available at www.stratigraphy.org). </p><p>Use without permission</p><p>For non-commercial purposes and as hard copy, anyone may use the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright without permission or charge provided that 1) they are not modified in any fashion other than resizing, 2) they retain all text including the ICS copyright, 3) that a proper acknowledgement of source is used with the item, and 4) that notification is sent by e-mail to the ICS Chair. Versions in JPEG format can be resized. </p><p>The ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright can be used without permission in a non-commercial publication; however, ICS must be acknowledged in the publication and notified by e- mail message to the ICS Chair (name and contact information available at www.stratigraphy.org). Furthermore, conditions 1 to 3 above must be met. If the January 2013 version is used in a publication, the following publication must be cited: Cohen, K.M., Finney, S.M., Gibbard, P.L., and Fan, J.-X., 2013. The ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart. Episodes, 36(3): 199-204. If used as part of a multi-author book, the publisher must ensure that ICS copyright permission is sought in every instance.</p><p>The ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright may be used in another ICS publication without permission from ICS.</p><p>Uses where permission is required</p><p>A typeset PDF of the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright may not be posted on any website, repository or server except when the website is that of an ICS subcommission or a professional organization or society identified by logo as contributing to a Translation.</p><p>Photocopying and digital copying</p><p>Limited hard copies of the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright for research or educational purposes (not including course packs) can be produced without seeking permission, if access rights to the material are granted. For more extensive copying or digital reproduction, permission must be obtained from ICS and there may be a price levied for this service.</p><p>Lecture and presentations</p><p>The ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright may be used in a visual presentation if access rights to the material are granted and provided that the document will not be circulated in digital or hard format for commercial purposes. Permission is not required to do this. Permission is also not required for circulation of your presentation to students or others.</p><p>Permission to use ICS material</p><p>Permission, unless otherwise stated here, to reprint the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright should be made to the Chair of the International Commission on Stratigraphy.</p><p>Permission will only be granted on the understanding that the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright are reproduced unmodified and that they carry the ICS logotype as on the original. Any modification, such as addition of a logotype for a meeting or sponsoring agency must conform to the original chart design.</p><p>Each use must contain an acknowledgement to the original source in the form: “reproduced by permission © ICS International Commission on Stratigraphy [Year].”</p><p>Other than the use outlined above, the ICS International Chronostratigraphic Chart, its Translations and all versions of them bearing the ICS copyright may not be captured or downloaded electronically into any format without the specific written permission of the International Commission on Stratigraphy..</p><p>Permission must be sought for uses other than those defined above – please contact the ICS Chair (name and contact information on www.stratigraphy.com).</p><p>Example fees for the reproduction of the ICS International Chronostratigraphical Chart, its Translations, and all versions</p><p>Non-commercial reproduction (i.e. for educational, research or similar non-profit making enterprises) - no charge. </p><p>For commercial purposes, i.e. in books, newspapers, magazines and on profit-making websites - $100 for a print-run of 1,000-2,000 copies. In commercial text books, popular magazines, - $250 for print-runs exceeding 2,000 copies. For each additional reprint / edition etc. - $100 for a print-run of 1,000-2,000 copies. $250 for print-runs exceeding 2,000 copies.</p><p>For permission, complete and submit Copyright Agreement </p>
