<p>Culpeper County School Board 4/7/2018 1:32 AM Minutes January 3, 2011 Page 1 of 2</p><p>CULPEPER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD Minutes January 3, 2011</p><p>The School Board of Culpeper County held a Town Hall meeting on January 3, 2011 at Culpeper County High School at 14240 Achievement Drive, Culpeper, VA. Present were George Dasher (Stevensburg District); Elizabeth Hutchins (Cedar Mountain District); Anne Luckinbill (Salem District); Robert Beard (East Fairfax District); Robert Houck (West Fairfax District); Superintendent Dr. Bobbi Johnson; Director of Administrative Services Dr. Russell Houck; Director of Human Resources Dr. Stacey Timmons; Director of Finance/Clerk Jeff Shomo; Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Rob Hauman; Budget Analyst Lauren Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Pearl Jamison. </p><p>Absent: Russell E. Jenkins (Catalpa District) and Leanne Malulani (Jefferson District) </p><p>Mr. Dasher called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. and described the rules of engagement.</p><p>The School Board fielded questions/comments from those present:</p><p> Kim Williams (Salem District) – He requested that the School Board ask the Board of Supervisors to put the entire CCHS renovation on the November 2011 ballot as a referendum.</p><p> Kim Richardson (West Fairfax District) – She asked if the employee health insurance will be put out to bid again this year. </p><p> Chuck Duncan (Jefferson District) – He asked if there is a master plan for the budget on- line.</p><p> Kalee Wells (West Fairfax District) – She asked if the new budget will maintain the current level of staff.</p><p> Nate Layne (Catalpa District) – He encouraged the School Board to talk with the Board of Supervisors about putting the CCHS renovation on the November ballot.</p><p>He expressed a concern with the insurance rates. </p><p>He asked the School Board to investigate class by class rosters to determine class size. </p><p>He encouraged the School Board to find a way not to further impact instruction when preparing the upcoming budget. Culpeper County School Board 4/7/2018 1:32 AM Minutes January 3, 2011 Page 2 of 2</p><p> Kim Richardson (West Fairfax District) – She asked if the School Board has discussed anything that would help build solidarity and boost morale amongst the employees – perhaps an employee picnic.</p><p> Kim Williams (Salem District) – He stated that there is a lot of fear amongst the staff because they don’t know what is happening with the budget.</p><p> Nate Layne (Catalpa District) – He asked what percentage of the yearly budget goes toward the CLC grant and will it become district-wide.</p><p>He stated that CLC takes a lot of time and affects morale. He asked if it benefits the school financially. </p><p>Board members thanked the group for attending and voicing their concerns.</p><p>Ms. Hutchins said this will be a difficult year and she hopes we can maintain programming and staff.</p><p>Ms. Luckinbill encouraged the community to send e-mails to board members about the budget.</p><p>Ms. Hutchins noted that e-mails are foiable.</p><p>Mr. Dasher said the next opportunity to talk with the School Board about the budget is Saturday, February 12th at 9 a.m. at the School Board Office.</p><p>Dr. Johnson said her goal this year is to be as transparent as possible with the budget even though it may be bad news.</p><p>The meeting adjourned at 6:59 p.m.</p><p>______JEFFREY R.
