<p>April 5, 2013</p><p>SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS</p><p>The following is a brief summary of the new and revised paragraphs in the Standard for Standard For Exhaust Hoods For Commercial Cooking Equipment, ANSI/UL 710-2012, which have a future Effective Date of September 13, 2017 and the action that may be required to determine compliance.</p><p>Paragraphs General Subject and Comment Secondary New requirements addressing hoods that employ secondary filters Filters Action Required: File review to confirm compliance Blank Offs New Section 12 clarifies that when blankoffs are used, their size and relative position shall be specified in the Installation and Operation Instructions</p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance Duct Collars Clarifies existing current practice on hood collars shipped separately from the hood. Adds new requirements for a hood with a telescoping duct collar. </p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance Performance Clarifies requirements for vertical clearances less than required by Codes.</p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance Cooking Changes the test cooking appliances to be selected based on the Appliances duty rating desired. Provides details of the cooking appliances. Table 32.1 changes for test appliances include:</p><p> a) extra heavy – solid fuel charcoal broiler or gas charbroiler b) heavy – gas charbroiler c) medium duty - electric griddle d) light duty – electric range boiling water.</p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance. All ratings will need to be changed from temperature ratings to duty ratings. Listings for use with 600 degree F appliances and above will be subject to re-evaluation and possible re-tests.</p><p>Marking Adds marking to address:</p><p> a) grease removal devices when cooking appliances are less than 18 inches b) statements addressing hoods with telescoping collars c) specific markings for hoods with recessed luminaries that protrude through the outermost shell of the hood and require a minimum spacing to insulation</p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance Subject: 710 Page 2 of 2 April 5, 2013</p><p>Paragraphs General Subject and Comment Installation Addresses the following: and Operating a) shipping hoods with loose duct collars Instructions b) new installation requirements for hoods intended for use in combustible surroundings c) specific instructions for hoods with recessed luminaries that protrude through the outermost shell of the hood and require a minimum spacing to insulation</p><p>Action Required: File review to confirm compliance</p>
