<p> 3rd & 4th Grade Girls Basketball Rules</p><p>1) LEAGUES: Girls in 3rd and 4th grade are eligible.</p><p>2) THE BALL: An intermediate size 28.5 basketball will be used.</p><p>3) BASKET: Players will shoot at a 10-foot basket.</p><p>4) TIME REGULATION: The game will consist of two (2) twenty (20) minute halves. There will be a three (3) minute break between halves. The clock will stop during the last two (2) minutes of the game for all violations such as: jump balls and out of bounds.</p><p>The game will be stopped for substitutions at the five (5), ten (10) and fifteen (15) minute mark of each half. No other substitutions will be allowed except in the case of an injury.</p><p>5) TIME OUTS: Each team is allowed 2 time outs per half. They can not be carried over to the next half.</p><p>6) DEFENSE: Person to Person Defense Only. Switching and Help Defense is allowed No double teams There will be no stealing off of the dribble.</p><p>7) FREE THROWS: No Free Throws will be shot. 2 points will be awarded for shooting fouls and bonus situations. Bonus = 7 TF</p><p>8) FAST BREAK AND PRESSING: 3rd & 4th Grade Girls are not allowed to fast break or press. a) A team will be considered to be pressing when a defender is in the back court as the offense attempts to advance the ball up-court. b) A team will be considered to be on a fast break when the offensive pattern has begun before all defensive players are in the fore-court. (9) LANE VIOLATIONS: 3rd & 4th Graders will be allowed (5) seconds in the lane. Remember that this is an instructional league and the officials will use their judgment for these type calls.</p><p>10) PLAYER PARTICIPATION: (Coaches Responsibility)</p><p> a) Each Coach must assign a player a number for the substitution system. (Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, will start your first game of the season). b) On each substitution the next five players on the rotation should be put into the game. c) If there is an injury or a player does not show for the game, the coach must skip the missing player’s number and substitute the next player in the rotation. d) The rotation will carry over to the next game. (So if you ended last weeks game with player number 2 players number 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, should start the next game. </p><p>11) ALL OTHER RULES FOLLOW THE WIAA REGULATIONS.</p><p>12) PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE SPIRIT OF THE RULES.</p><p>WE ARE, FIRST AND FOREMOST A LEAGUE INTERESTED IN PROMOTING A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR THE CHILDREN INVOLVED.</p>
