<p>http://www.vvd.gov.lv/lv/aktualitates/informacija-presei/?id=73</p><p>Project</p><p>Preparation for implementation of the Project “Remediation of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava”</p><p>In December 2009, work at the project of Latvian-Swiss Cooperation Programme Project Preparation Fund “Preparation for implementation the Project “Remediation of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava”” was finished. State Environment Service signed a contract with the state SIA “Vides projekti” on “Additional study of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava and actualization of rehabilitation project documentation”. According to the Contract the Project related work was done from October 8, 2009 till December 18, 2009. Study was performed in territory of SIA “Woodison Terminal”, SIA “Eko Osta”, SIA “OVI” and SIA “VL Bunkering”. During the project 22 new bore holes, 3 bar holes were arranged, 6 old bore holes were renewed, samples of polluted soil were taken and analysis of samples was carried out to determine the concentration and level of pollution and topography of the territory was done. In total, the territory of 55 00m2 was studied in the area of Sarkandaugava and Mīlgrāvis junction. On the basis of field works and results of laboratory analysis hydrogeological computer modelling of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava was done, the character, scope and localization of pollution was determined. Based on the results rehabilitation technologies have been evaluated, financial-economical analysis of the work scenario was carried out. According to the Final Report of SIA “Vides projekti” on “Additional study of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava and actualization of rehabilitation project documentation” it is planned that the following technologies will be used for rehabilitation: liquidation of floating oil layer with double pumping (in territory of SIA “Woodison Terminal”, SIA “Eko Osta” and SIA “OVI”) and vacuum pumping (in territory of SIA “VL Bunkering”) method and liquidation of the rest of pollution with microbiological method. Rehabilitation costs according to this rehabilitation scenario are 4 095 817.19 LVL at current prices. Results of the above mentioned activities will be used for development of documentation of the project “Remediation of historically polluted areas in Sarkandaugava” and for development of rehabilitation work procurement procedure documentation. </p><p>Central structural units, 06.01.2010</p>
