<p>Individual placement description </p><p>Central Manchester Foundation Trust Individual Placement Description </p><p>Placement F2 ENT The department The ENT department serves MRI, and Tameside during on-call. On-call would include clerking emergency ENT admissions and review emergency Urology admissions; clerking elective cardiothoracic and renal transplant patients. Clinical Supervisor(s) for the Kevin Green placement Main duties of the placement The F2 doctor is responsible with other staff for the ward care of patients and the maintenance of the patient’s medical record. They will have the chance of seeing patients in outpatient rapid access clinics with registrars or consultants. Procedures completed could include manipulation of nasal fractures, cautery of nosebleeds, suturing of the nose, ear microsuction, aspiration of peritonsillar abscess. They are also expected to attend theatres in which they are able to learn direct laryngoscopy, elective trachea insertions, tonsillectomies or assist in cochlear implants insertions or neck dissections. They doctor will be responsible for managing occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances under adequate and suitable advice or supervision. Typical working pattern in this Daily: 0800 Ward round 0800/ 2100 Handover placement Mon: 0800-0900 Ward Round 0900-1200 Rapid access clinic 1300-1700 Ward work Tues: 0800-0900 Ward Round 0900- 1200 Theatre/ clinic 1300- 1700 Ward work/ F2 teaching Wed - Fri same as above. Sat: 0900- 2100 1 in 6/7 Sun: 0900- 2100 1 in 6/7 on call requirements: 1 in 5 Employer information It is important to note that this description is a typical example of your placement and may be subject to change.</p><p>Following the predicted merger of CMFT with Trafford in 2012 it is likely that some or all trainees entering this combined program will work across both sites during their two year rotation. It may be necessary to change the location of posts if services move between the two sites within the next three years.</p>
