This plan is for a small group setting.

Student objectives:

Students will be able to: Look at photographs selected and discuss what the photographer is trying to say. Take their own photos based off of our SS goal. Create writings to go along with pictures to help explain how that provides a good or service to our community. Holly Tilley LTP lesson plan 4/18/2011 Materials: Cameras Images already taken Writing paper

Day one: Introduce visual elements selected to focus on. I used; framing, scale, timing, and angle of a picture. Teacher needs to discuss each element with students to help them to interpret pictures or actually help them to take a photo. Students decide which business they would like to work with to complete the writing assignments that go along with the photography.

Day two: We walked to our locations and took pictures. I let the students talk about where they would like to stand and what to capture in their pictures. After completed with picture taking students need to begin brainstorming information to include in their poems. They may use computers to research and each other.

Day three: Today I will model how to set up an acrostic poem with using chocolate. Students need to use information they have collected and make and acrostic poem with the name of their business. This will be there 1st draft.

Day four: Once students have finished with their rough draft I will conference with them and encourage them to use poetry style writing or different words. Then students are able to re write their final copy and illustrate it if they would like. Holly Tilley LTP lesson plan 4/18/2011

Day five: On the last day students will write me a friendly letter about their business. In their letter they will need to at least include 3 of the following: o What did you take a picture of in our community? o Who are the producers and consumers? o Is this a good or service; or both? o In what ways does this help our community? o Does you parents/you use this good or service? How often?

I did not conference with them about their friendly letters. I wanted to see what they could do on their own and I wanted to see what they had learned about their business without my input.

Assessment: Rubric is attached.
