
<p> 13.3 – 13.5 Electing the President </p><p>Presidential Primaries (elections held from Jan to June; used by more than ¾ of States to choose the Republican & Democratic candidates)</p><p>National Conventions (Democratic & Republican conventions held in Aug. Delegates chosen in the primaries choose the nominee for each party.)</p><p>Election Day (Voters vote on the Tues after the 1st Mon in Nov. Voters actually pick presidential electors who are expected to vote for the candidate who won the primaries.)</p><p>Electoral College (Electors cast their ballots on the Mon after the 2nd Wed in Dec. Their ballots are counted on Jan 6th. A majority (1 more than ½) is needed for election as the President.)</p><p>The Presidency (Inauguration day is Jan. 20th) </p>
