<p> Alberto Ferreras writer-Director</p><p>Alberto Ferreras is a New York based writer, director and creative consultant. </p><p>He has directed projects for HBO, CNN, PBS, Time Warner, Verizon Wireless, Direct TV, Allstate, Walgreens, the American Heart Association, the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and V-me, among others. </p><p>With a broad experience in the mainstream and the Latino market, Ferreras has pioneered the use of Spanglish and the casting of real people in Hispanic advertising. In 2003 he created “Habla” for HBO, an image campaign that was later developed into a documentary series. “Habla” consists of 8 specials that have featured more than 300 testimonials of everyday Latinos. In it’s latest installments, the show has included celebrities like Rita Moreno, Rosie Perez, Ruben Blades, Dolores Huerta, Jimmy Smits, Soledad O’Brien, Charo, Bernie Williams, Narciso Rodriguez, Esai Morales and Daisy Fuentes, among many others. “Habla” has earned him Promax, Namic and New York Festivals awards, and it received a nomination to the prestigious Imagen Awards. Because of his deep understanding of the US Latino experience he was invited to collaborate as segment director in CNN’s “Latino in América”. Ferreras also co-created "El Perro y El Gato" a bilingual children's animated series for HBO Family, currently being released on DVD by HBO Video.</p><p>As executive producer for HBO Creative Services he produced campaigns and behind the scenes specials for Sex & The City, Oz, The Comeback, Everyday People, Starring Pancho Villa, Real Women Have Curves, and Family Bonds, among others. </p><p>In addition to his commercial work, Ferreras is a published author and his first novel “B as in Beauty” (Grand Central Publishing) received the International Latino Book Award as the best English novel of 2009. The Spanish version of the book—translated by Ferreras himself—will be released by Random House in the Fall of 2011.</p><p>As an independent filmmaker he has directed documentaries like “Verbal Sex” (Berlin Film Festival ‘97), and “Bigger” (Brisbane International Film Festival, MIxBrasil and Outfest ‘04).</p><p>His script adaptation of the novel “Que Viva la Música” by Andrés Caicedo has received a fellowship by Fundación Carolina and a development grant by Ibermedia, and is currently being developed by Dynamo Productions in Colombia. </p>
