Majors created the Pony Express Service, which was soon put out of business due to the telegraph.

Years later, Louisa Johnson took ownership of the home, restoring it to its original grandeur. She was found dead in the care taker’s cabin (site of the present day barn).

Purported Paranormal Claims:

It is believed that it is the spirit of Louisa Johnson that haunts the house. Activity includes:

 Seeing a woman in a white dress either staring out of the windows, or walking up the sidewalk to the house. There are also claims of seeing a man dressed in period clothing ins

2  Strong wafts of sweet smelling perfume, characteristic of period perfumes.

Debunked claims:

 Since the house often hosts period themed events involving reenactors, it is not beyond the scope that the incidents of seeing a woman or a man in period attire are nothing more than reenactors.

 HPI did not encounter the scent of sweet perfume. Quite possibly, since the house is open for tours, which this claims is the result of lingering perfume from a tourist, or again, a reenactor.

Downstairs

Front Parlor (North):

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 72 degrees F

Cam 1: None.

Stationary Digital Voice Recorder: No evidence collected.

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

3 Front parlor (South):

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 70.0 degrees F

Cam 2: None.

Stationary Digital Voice Recorder: No evidence collected.

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Dining Room:

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 69.5 degrees F

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

4 Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Kitchen:

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 71.0 degrees F

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Upstairs

Front Bedroom (North):

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 72.5 degrees F

Cam 3: None

Stationary Digital Voice Recorder: No evidence collected.

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

5 EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Front Bedroom (South):

Baseline Readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mG

 Temp: 71.0 degrees F

Photographic Evidence: None.

Mini DV: None.

EVP’s: None.

Ghost Box: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Center Bedroom:

Baseline readings:

 EMF: 1.0 mg

 Temp: 71.0 degrees F

Cam 4: None.

Stationary Digital Voice Recorder: No evidence collected.

Mini DV: None.

Photographic Evidence: None.

6 EVP’s: None.

KII/EMF: None.

Ghost Box: None.

Temp Changes: None.

Personal Experiences: None.

Additional Notes: None.

Conclusion:

HPI conducted an extensive investigation of the house and did not obtain any evidence to support any claims or to indicate any paranormal activity taking place in the house.

Of course, this investigation took place for just one night, and that is not to say that on another night, HPI would have collected supporting evidence. As HPI did not obtain any supporting evidence, it is our opinion that the Alexander Majors Home does not contain paranormal activity and is not haunted.

7
