<p> CALENDAR RIDDLES</p><p>Fat and gay, on a winter's day. He came here with us to stay. When he grew both sad and thin, We brought his younger brother in. People meet the guest with cheer, For he brings another year. What is he? (A calendar)</p><p>He came to us before New Year A healthy, merry fellow. But every day he loses weight, And in a year he'll fade away. (A calendar)</p><p>It takes off a piece of its clothing each day, By the end of the year it has nothing left to wear. (A calendar)</p><p>Why is snow like New Year's Day? (Because it can fall on any day of the week)</p><p>Four brothers work, Works of them together gather. (Seasons)</p><p>A little old woman With twelve children: Some short, some long, Some cold, some hot. What is it? (A year)</p><p>This thing all things devours Birds, trees, beasts, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats high mountain down. (Time)</p><p>What can fly but has no wings? (Time)</p><p>As I watch I see the world pass me by. All the good, the bad, in the twinkle of an eye. I watch and wait, and patiently sit. I never began, so I shall never quit. My only presence is in my being. It is hardly noticed, and not worth a thing. I'm fast as light, thin as air. Run if you can. Run if you dare. To avoid me is the mark of a fool. For all you're worth, your life is my tool. Though concealed, I am not shy. The question is. What am I? The world looks new and gay. The meadows are empty. And gathered the sheaves – But isn't it lovely, Kicking up leaves? (Spring)</p><p>Cold month brings us skating, For the New Year we are waiting. (December)</p><p>This month brings the snow, Makes out feet and fingers glow. (January)</p><p>This month snows again And sometimes it brings us rain. (In February, because it is the shortest month of the year.)</p><p>This month brings sunny days and winds So we know that spring begins. (March)</p><p>This month brings the primrose sweet, We see daisies at our feet. (April)</p><p>This month brings flowers, joy and grass And the holiday for us. (May)</p><p>Which month of the year is the shortest? (May)</p><p>John from the garden Has taken the chairs; It's dark in the evening And cold on the stairs. Winter is coming And everyone grieves – But isn't it lovely, Kicking up leaves? (November)</p><p>In what month do children talk the least?
