<p>Biography of Shohid Ahmed Chowdhury PHF District Governor 2016-17 | RI District 3282, Bangladesh</p><p>Rtn. PP Shohid Ahmed Chowdhury hails from a renowned Muslim family, born on 30th November 1954 to Monozzir Ali Chowdhury and Begum Rezia Chowdhury in Sylhet. He is the third among his four brothers and sisters, very popular as a gentle and well behaved person in social and Rotary arena. Shohid Chowdhury is always committed to his responsibilities and duties. He had his education in Sylhet from the very famous institutions like Sylhet Government Pilot High School and M.C College, Sylhet till 1975.</p><p>He moved to Europe in the year 1977 and was there until 1983. After the death of his father he returned to Bangladesh to hold his family together and started own business of furniture manufacturing and selling in the year 1984. He expanded his business in other wings like residential hotel, mineral water plant, distribution of consumer products etc. Mr. Chowdhury was also involved in photo processing and printing business, export-import of furniture, photographic machines, paper and chemicals. During this long span of time Mr. Chowdhury created a space of his own in the business pitch of Sylhet.</p><p>Apart from his business identity Shohid Chowdhury is involved with various social and trade bodies in Bangladesh. Mr. Chowdhury is the Immediate Past President of Sylhet Hotel and Guest House Owners Group. He is a member of Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) and Executive Director of Travel Industry Development Association of Bangladesh (TIDAB). Other than the Trade Forums, Shohid Chowdhury is associated with numbers of Social Organizations, he is the Life Member of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Muslim Shahitto Shangshad, Sylhet Ex-cadets Association, Social Welfare Secretary of Heart Foundation, Sylhet and Executive Member of Jalalabad Disabled Rehabilitation Center & Hospital, he is also a Life Member of Jalalabad Association, Dhaka. </p><p>Shohid Chowdhury is a Rotarian since 1988 & belongs to Rotary Club of Jalalabad, one of the largest & best Rotary Club in Bangladesh, He served his club in various positions & eventually led the club as president during the year 1999-2000. He was millennium President & achieved numerous laurels for club during his tenure. Rtn. Chowdhury served the district in almost all the positions & organized many district events.</p><p>He served as Assistant Governor in Unified District 3280 during the year 2001-02, Deputy District Governor 2003-04, and International Friendship Exchange Chair twice in 2006-07 and 2013-14. Assistant District Trainer in 2006-07, District Coordinator in the year 2009-10. He served 3280 as District Secretary General in the year 2010-11. In the same year he led a Group Study Exchange Team to the International District 5060 Canada-USA. He served as Deputy District Trainer of District 3282 in the year 2012-13 and Chairman Rotary Extension Committee in the year 2013-14.</p><p>Rtn. Shohid organized good number of Rotary Clubs as GSR and organized numbers of Rotary events like International fellowship exchange with RID 3240 India in 2002-03, Multi-district Intercity Meeting at Sylhet in 2007-08, District Team Training Seminar in 2009-10, SETS & TETS in 2010-11 and District Assembly in the year 2014-15.</p><p>Shohid Chowdhury is a widely travelled person and visited most of the European, Asian, North American and Middle Eastern Countries including Australia. He attended ten numbers of Rotary International Conventions and many Rotary Institutes and International events. He was speaker at various Rotary events and programs in home and abroad.</p><p>In personal life, Rtn. Chowdhury is married to Nusrat Jahan Chowdhury and they are blessed with two daughters Fatema Iffat an MBA & married to Esfar Ahmed Chowdhury. Second daughter Sadia Nusrat as a Medical Doctor (MBBS) and the only son Nadeem Farhan completed his graduation in business.</p>
