They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements.</p><p>Elements and performance criteria</p><p>Element 1</p><p>Prepare to operate a granulator to process scrap copper.</p><p>Performance criteria</p><p>1.1 Health and safety hazards of granulating operations are identified and controlled in accordance with legislation and company procedures.</p><p>1.2 Adverse effects on the environment are identified and controlled in accordance with legislation and company procedures.</p><p>1.3 Granulator is checked for serviceability, and corrective action is taken in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>1.4 Copper is separated and sorted prior to granulation in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>Range separation – contaminated copper; sorting – baled, wire, item size.</p><p>1.5 Large items are sheared into lengths appropriate for specific granulator in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>1.6 Baled scrap is broken into loose streams in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>Element 2</p><p>Operate a granulator to process scrap copper.</p><p>Range includes but is not limited to – pipe, coated cable scrap.</p><p>Performance criteria</p><p>2.1 Startup and shutdown of granulator is demonstrated in accordance with operating manuals and company procedures.</p><p>2.2 Control ensures consistent feed into granulator in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>2.3 Control of granulator components ensures that separation of metal and tailings meets specified contamination range for metal.</p><p>Range components – cutters, vibrating screen, aspirator, dust extractor, air table.</p><p>Ó New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2018 22670 version 1 Page 3 of 3</p><p>2.4 Tailings are reprocessed and/or recycled in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>2.5 Routine problems with granulator operations are resolved in accordance with company procedures.</p><p>Range variations in feed, blocked screens, equipment malfunction, non- conformance of product.</p><p>Please note</p><p>Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.</p><p>Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.</p><p>Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.</p><p>Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
