<p> Greek Project</p><p>In groups of no more than 3 you are to create a model of a Greek development. Choose 1 of the following. Every project will be done.</p><p>1. One of Archimedes’ most important inventions, was the water screw; known today as Archimedes’ screw. You are to make a model of this invention. Use simple materials such as an old garden hose and a broomstick. Be able to thoroughly explain this to the class. </p><p>2. Make a catapult. Explain how the Greeks used this weapon. </p><p>3. Make a model of the three basic styles of columns label each one and show a picture of its use in real life. </p><p>4. Make a model depicting Archimedes’ burning (parabolic) mirror. a system of mirrors that burned the boots and ships of invading armies by focusing the sun's rays (see Mythbusters) </p><p>5. Make a ship-shaking device, invented by the great mathematician and inventor Archimedes around 214 BCE. The Carthaginians used the device to ward off potential invasions by Roman ships </p><p>6. Make a pantograph (Greek version) </p><p>7. Make an Astrolabe </p><p> All Groups will have a PowerPoint presentation & will present their projects to the class ( presentations will include) o A 3-D Model o History of the invention o A detailed explanation of how it works & what it was/is used for o Pictures</p>
