<p> Graphic Design</p><p>Mrs. Brooker Room 72 Business Education Penns Valley High School</p><p>Course Description This course explores the fundamentals of web design and desktop publishing. This class will explore issues and techniques related to designing and developing websites. Students will have hands-on experience in creating web pages including web graphics, templates, and tables. The desktop publishing concepts include: designing page layouts; creating and importing graphics; using fonts and typefaces; learning the fundamentals of basic design; creating, editing and importing text.</p><p>Course Objectives  To teach the basic commands of web page software  To teach website management skills  To have the students design and create a basic webpage  To understand how to import media into a webpage  To understand tables, and templates related to webpages  To teach the basic commands of desktop publishing software  To have the students design and create basic page layouts  To teach how to create and import graphics  To demonstrate how to create text to be used in desktop publishing documents  To have the students understand the proper use of typesetting (fonts, typefaces, typestyles and sizes)  To demonstrate how to edit and import text and images using various methods provided </p><p>Text The Web Collection Revealed. Delmar Cengage Learning 2010.</p><p>Evaluation</p><p>In-class Assignments and Projects 30-100 points each Final Course Projects and Exam 100-200 points each Quizzes 25-50 points each</p><p>Grading Scale A= 90-100 B= 80-89 C=70-79 D=60-69 F= below 60 *** Please note: In-class assignments are very important. Homework will be assigned sparingly. It is crucial that you work hard in class.</p><p>Formative & Summative Assessments:  Formative Assessments: Formative assessments are those that need to be completed to demonstrate progress and/or the need for additional practice or instruction. Failure to complete formative assessments will be reflected in a student’s overall grade, but will NOT result in an incomplete (0%) for the marking period/course grade. </p><p>Formative Assessments include: daily in-class assignments and activities</p><p> Summative Assessments: Summative assessments are those that need to be completed to demonstrate mastery of the subject, content, or skill. Failure to complete summative assessments will be reflected in a student’s overall grade, and WILL result in an incomplete (0%) for the marking period/course grade.</p><p>Summative Assessments include: quizzes, tests, and final projects.</p>
