Rosenberg, Provost</p><p>SUBJECT: Instructions for Using the On-line Faculty Assessment for Administrators for 2003-2004</p><p>DATE: April 9, 2004</p><p>Since the Fall of 2001, the University has been using the Faculty Administrator Assessment System (FAAS), an online computer software system designed by Computer Services and the Faculty Senate, as its official system to conduct the annual administrator assessments by faculty. The system provides a list of administrators whom you may assess (College Dean and Department Chairperson), collects assessment and responses/comments, summarizes, and reports the assessment results while maintaining the participant's anonymity.</p><p>You can conduct assessments through April 23rd using your Internet connected home or office computer. To log in, please use your University computer user account name and the last four digits of your social security number as the password. It is a very simple procedure requiring only a few minutes.</p><p>Your security is a top priority and no one will be allowed to have access to any individual assessment. On the website you will find a sample assessment form and other information to assist you. The FAAS website to use for both reviewing the questionnaire and for entering your assessment is: http://www.cs.fiu.edu/FAAS</p><p>As provided in the Faculty Senate motion, all results will be reported to the Provost. Unit results will be reported to the Deans. Faculty in the units will receive the results of their chair/director's assessment and of their dean's assessment. Please note that this is an assessment, not an evaluation. Evaluations of administrators are conducted by the Provost and the Deans. The assessments will, of course, be used in making the evaluations along with other pertinent material.</p><p>This is an important aspect of faculty governance. The more faculty that participate, the better the accuracy of the results. I strongly urge every member of the faculty to participate.</p><p>Office of the Provost University Park .
