<p> Department of Materials Science & Engineering</p><p>First Year Tutorial Groups 2012/2013</p><p>You will be allocated a Personal Tutor at the beginning of year one. Your Tutor is there to help you with any personal issues, and should be available to see you at reasonably short notice. Your Tutor will be able to assist in your integration into University life, write references for you, and generally provide support when personal and academic issues interact. </p><p>You will also participate in Academic Tutorials, usually taken by your Personal Tutor, to support your academic development. Weekly meetings will be timetabled and will follow a defined programme designed to supplement the material presented in lectures, as well as giving you the opportunity to raise questions and discuss the content of the course. You will also be set a few assignments to improve your transferable skills and develop your examination techniques.
