<p> The Creative Arts Festival is:</p><p> Exploring an art of your choice for a full day Meeting interested artists like yourself Sharing with others what you know and learn</p><p>Invited Creative Arts Students: Your school is invited to bring 1 team of seven (7) fifth or sixth graders talented in arts. (Baraboo, Sauk Prairie, and Reedsburg may bring 2 teams.) Each student registers for one class.</p><p>General Schedule for Thursday, April 7th: 9:00 Welcome 9:15 Begin Class 11:45 Lunch (Pizza) 12:30 Return to Class 1:25 Set up for “Sharing of the Arts” Show 2:00 Begin “Sharing of the Arts” Show 3:00 Clean up and Dismissal</p><p>Explore the Arts!</p><p>Adinkra Symbol Printing (AAP): Students will study the language of Ghana and their use of Adinkra symbols to communicate. Each student will choose his/her two favorite symbols from the Adinkra language to recreate in a block-printing project! We will study radial symmetry, block carving, as well as traditional and non-traditional printing techniques. (10-12) Instructor: Laurel Schmudlach</p><p>Beads, Bracelets, and More! (BBM): Students will make their own beads using “sculpey” clay and paper. They will then create their own bracelets, necklaces and earrings. They will also use a variety of other beads to create patterns and designs. Instructor: Jen Mertens</p><p>Digital Photography & iMovie (DPM): Learn the many uses of digital photography. Students will take photos of the festival and experiment with lighting effect to create portraits of each other. Photographs will be part of a multi-media presentation to be viewed by the public at the 3:00 “Sharing of the Arts.” (10) Instructors: Meg Watson & Liz Ptaschinski</p><p>Dynamic Drawing Techniques (DDT): Learn to draw quick and easy almost anything on this planet or another! Learn pen & ink, colored pencil, how to use Graphite with pencil and even in a watercolor effect. Use charcoal and put these techniques to use drawing comic book art! (12) Instructor: Mike Fretchel</p><p>Floral Arranging Artistas! (FAA): Come and have fun learning how to design floral arrangements. We will be working with live flowers and also silk flowers. We will also learn the art of creating beautiful bows to either add to your arrangement or take home for a decoration. Instructor: Jan Jones</p><p>1 Perspective and Optical Illusions (POL): Do you want to learn how to draw things to look three dimensional or create an optical illusion to fool all your friends and family? Come explore drawing in one-point perspective and the art of creating optical illusions. Students will use the technique of perspective drawing to create a color pencil perspective drawing and collaged optical illusion. Instructor: Krista Geier</p><p>Recycled Orchesta (RO): Students will find and create "instruments" using a variety of art materials and recyclables. These unique instruments will produce a quality sound. Next students will decorate this unique “sound machine” using different art techniques in paint. For the finale, students will perform using their instruments with a visual effect – too cool to mention now! You’ll have to be here to experience this fun and creative session. Instructor: Lorisa Harvey and Hope Fenske</p><p>Sing and Celebrate (SC): Did you ever dream of being in a show choir? Here is your chance to sing the songs we love to remember, learn new choreography, and create a mini revue to present at the end of the day. Join us in "Signs of the Times" for songs to remember. Bring along a "tie-dyed" T-shirt and blue jeans, if you can. Instructor: Mary Troxel and Joseph Campbell</p><p>Storytelling, Dance, and Dream weaving (SDD): Join Jackie RedWoman for a day of authentic storytelling, Native American Folklore, dance and crafts. Students will weave a personal story into a dream catcher, and also learn about and create a Native American Medicine Wheel. Instructor: Jackie Red Woman Lindow</p><p>Urban Jazz Dance (UJD): Do you feel like dancing and learning a new routine? Then this is the place to do it! This fun session will get kids moving to upbeat urban jazz sounds. Students will learn an urban jazz dance piece and perform it at the “Sharing of the Arts.” Please wear comfortable clothes to practice in and bring along black pants and a white shirt to change into for the performance. No sandals, please! Instructor: Hannah Marcus</p><p>Weaving with Purpose (WWP): Ready for a build- your-own loom experience? Grab a hammer and nails and let’s construct! Students will not only build a loom, they will also weave a rag rug to take home with their loom. This is a hands-on experience you won’t want to miss! (12) Instructor: Kate Clausius</p><p>Yes! It’s Improv! (YII): Come dressed in comfortable clothing ready to move and experience the freedom and joy of theatre games! Create your own 'character' or invent a new 'persona'! Expand your emotional spectrum and practice stepping up and out to take a chance! Fun guaranteed if you're willing to share your energy and say "Yes!" to putting yourself out there!
