Name: ______AP US History Historical Facebook

Objective: you will choose one of the following historical figures (your teacher will tell you how this will work) and make a ‘Historical Facebook’ page for him or her using a template.

Directions: 1. Research your historical figure using reputable web sites. 3. Make your Facebook Page! Remember: you must write your page in first person—that is, as if you were the historical figure talking about him/herself. THE HISTORICAL FACEBOOK IS NOT A PLACE TO MAKE YOUR OWN LIKES AND INTERESTS KNOWN. All information on your Historical Facebook page must reflect researched information regarding the historical figure’s actual life. Be creative and put some thought into it. Good example: Hitler liked war, so I listed ‘the Art of War’ as one of his favorite books. Bad example: I like the Shins, so I list the Shins as one of Hitler’s favorite bands. Your Historical Facebook will include the following pages: A. Info Page—basic HISTORICALLY RELEVANT biographical information about your historical figure Info Page REQUIRED Fields: Info Page CHOOSE FIVE Fields Gender (in addition to required fields): Birthday Activities Hometown Interests Networks Favorite Music Relationship Status Favorite TV Shows Political Views Favorite Movies Religious Views Favorite Books About Me Favorite Quotes B. Photos—two actual photos of your historical figure or events related to your historical figure. You must caption each photo with a historically significant description. C. Feed—your historical figure’s friends, status updates, events to attend, and comments from friends. REMEMBER TO MAKE THESE HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT. Friends can be actual people in the historical figure’s life, or people from another time period the historical figure might get along with. You must show six friends. Status updates—you will do a historically relevant update for your Historical Figure at the top of your page, and then put in two historically relevant status updates from friends in your feed. Comments from friends—add two historically relevant comments from the Historical Figure’s friends. Events to attend—add two historically accurate events that the Historical Figure actually attended. Links—links to (guess what?) HISTORICALLY RELEVANT websites that the Historical Figure might enjoy. D. Blog—choose two significant days in the life of your historical figure. Using those dates, write two first-person blog entries about the events of each day. Each blog entry must include 7 sentences and must include information about the motivations or causes of the event, the location of the event, details about what actually occurred, the historical significance of the event, and how the historical figure must have felt about the event.

4. Print your page. DUE JANUARY 10th!
