<p> Nursery and Orchard Technology Valid KY Course #010651</p><p>Course Description: Nursery and orchard technology will provide instruction in production practices for container and field-grown nursery stock; identification, function, growing requirements, hardiness, problems and methods of different landscape plant materials; propagating and growing evergreens/deciduous plants; and the operation of garden centers and nurseries. Principles of home and commercial fruit production may also be included. Content may be enhanced by utilizing appropriate computer applications. Leadership development will be provided through FFA. Each student will be expected to have a supervised agricultural experience program.</p><p>NATIONAL AFNR Content/Process statements followed by # codes in STANDARDS Bold = KOSSA Standards, Italic = Academic Expectations</p><p>Students will: CS.01  demonstrate employability and social skills relative to the career cluster. AC 003, 004; 2.1,2.2,2.4,2.6</p><p>PS.02  prepare soils and planting media for nursery and/or orchard crops. OB 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006; 2.2,2.3,2.4,2.10 </p><p>ABS.01  implement production management strategies for nursery and/or orchard crops. EC 002, 003, 004,; 2.1,2.3,2.6,2.7 </p><p>NRS.01  relate nursery technology practices to environmental impact. EC, 009, OD 004; 2.3,2.6,2.8,2.13 </p><p>FPP.04  demonstrate harvesting and merchandising of nursery crops and/or orchard crops.
