<p>KINGSTON THEATRE TRUST Rose Youth Theatre Director Job Summary</p><p>Responsible to: Director of Learning & Participation</p><p>Responsible for: Rose Youth Theatre</p><p>Salary: Rate dependent on hours. Full day based on £21ph. Shorter days based on a higher rate.</p><p>Hours: Dependent on course. We’re looking for directors to teach: Full Saturday 9.30am-5pm. Friday 5-7pm and Saturday 2-4pm Saturdays 9-11.45am (Under 11s) Sundays 9am-1.30pm (Under 11s) Sundays 9am- 6pm Tuesdays 4pm-5.15pm (Under 11s) Tuesdays 5.30-9pm Wednesdays 4.30pm-5.45pm (Under 11s) Thursdays 4.30pm-5.45pm (Under 11s)</p><p>Holiday: Freelance agreement.</p><p>Notice period: Looking for at least one term commitment</p><p>Key objective: Fulfil course objectives. Rose Young Company (11-19) is performance-based. Rose Youth Theatre Academy (11-19) is skills-based with a new curriculum across several disciplines, working towards an informal showing. Some sessions may require facilitation with guest specialists Rose Youth Theatre Under-11s (5-11) is a skills-based course focusing each term on a short play for an informal showing.</p><p>Job Description</p><p>Key objectives: Deliver against course objectives in-house and at external venues, working within a directing team towards public performances or informal showings.</p><p>We’re looking for more than one RYT Director and a variety of combinations of courses and classes dependent on availability. </p><p>Key Tasks: </p><p>Rose Youth Theatre, Rose Theatre, Kingston August 2017 KINGSTON THEATRE TRUST</p><p>Rose Youth Theatre Under 11s Director  Sessions on Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat and Sun (recruiting for at least two directors)  Each session is 1hr 15min. To include team-building, creative and narrative exercises  Focus on literacy and storytelling  Work fairly swiftly towards a clear and polished informal showing for parents  Deliver succinct individual written feedback for each student at the end of term  Work with U11s and RYT team to ensure consistency in content  Demonstrate excellence in teaching at primary school level.</p><p>Rose Young Company Director  Cast and direct a group for a public performance of Charlotte’s Web.  Groups numbering 12-16. Age groups are 11-13 or 14-15  Work closely with other directors in the team, splitting the show into one group per act with the juniors  Work with Costume Designer to ensure clear aesthetic and delivery  Provide individual written feedback for each student at the end of term</p><p>Rose Youth Theatre Academy Director  Deliver against course objectives for newly launched skills course (ages 15-19)  Vocational course, including facilitation with guest directors  Liaise closely with L&P director  Coach and mentor sixth formers looking to train professionally  Saturday group delivered at NESCOT in Ewell; requiring liaison with Nescot staff.  Informal showing at the end of each term (monologues and duologues)</p><p>General  To be familiar with and be personally responsible for acting within the Equal Opportunities Policies of the Rose Theatre, Kingston.  Ensure that the Rose Theatre, Kingston policies, including Health and Safety, Access (including DDA) and Equal Opportunities are adhered to.  To be an active and supportive member of the Rose Theatre staff team.  To take an active role in the strategic development of the Rose community programme  Any other reasonable duties that arise to fulfil the objectives of the Rose Theatre, Kingston Theatre Company.</p><p>Person Specification Essential Skills  Experience in directing theatre with young casts  Experience teaching drama skills, including work in schools  For RYTA and RYC, experience teaching and directing in drama schools</p><p>Rose Youth Theatre, Rose Theatre, Kingston August 2017 KINGSTON THEATRE TRUST  For RYTA, a cross-discipline approach and interest in acting training.  For RYC, experience directing professionally.  Experience working with stage management, designers and producers with strong teamwork skills.  Clear communication skills, including rehearsal notes and summaries  Basic experience in Excel and Word  An interest or experience of working within the not-for-profit business sector  Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure at times  Attention to detail and accuracy  Willingness to work outside normal hours if required</p><p>Desirable Skills  For RYC, experience in basic sound design (either QLab or SCS)  For RYC, basic experience in lighting design and operation (at TIE level)</p><p>Rose Youth Theatre, Rose Theatre, Kingston August 2017</p>
