<p> Bioinformatics Workshop</p><p>WHAT IS: Bioinformatics is a Inter disciplinary science that uses computer programing, mathematics, engineering and biological science to study and process biological data. Some of that data is DNA, RNA and protein sequences. Useful for all biology majors and those interested in an introduction to bioinformatics.</p><p>Workshop: This workshop will concentrate on population genetics and phylogenetics, introducing students to a variety of methods for uncovering population structure and quantifying genetic variation. </p><p>Presenter: Emily Lescak, former SUNY Cobleskill alumna who is a Ph.D. candidate in fisheries through the University of Fairbanks. She uses three-spined stickleback as a model organism to study post-glacial biogeography and contemporary evolution. </p><p>When: Friday, April 3 – Tuesday, April 7, 2015</p><p>Friday 12-5pm Saturday 10-4pm Sunday No Class - Easter Holiday Monday 5-9pm Tuesday, 12:30 -6:30pm</p><p>Location: Warner 021</p><p>Cost: SUNY Cobleskill students Free, Non-Students $25.00</p><p>Questions: Lynda McMaster-Schuyler, Ph.D. and Peiyu Zeng, Ph.D. Department of Natural Sciences and Math at SUNY Cobleskill</p><p>This event is being sponsored by the Natural Science and Math Department, with grants from the Alumni Association and others to be determined. </p>
