<p>English Didactics III Nicole Sieber Hansjörg Perino</p><p>Lesson Plan: Learning new vocabulary (palace, Queen, royal guard, crown, jewels, throne, servants, hat, carriage and sovereign) Aim: Students are introduced to the new vocabulary; understand its meaning and can use it in a short story</p><p>Aim Procedure Material Interaction Time Stage 1 Teacher shows transparency of the T - SS 3 min. picture of Queen to Queen students and elicits vocabulary. Where does she live? Who does she live with? Stage 2 Show the other five further T-SS 5 min. pictures and ask the transparencies students to describe what they see. Elicit target vocabulary – present “sovereign”. Feature new vocab. on blackboard& have students copy it down Stage 3 Teacher presents & short story T- SS 5 min. acts out short story. A copy with a word list is handed out afterwards. Teacher reviews difficult words (comfortable Stage 4 Ask students to create S - S 12 min. their own short story in pairs using the ten vocabulary words </p><p>Stories can be completed as homework and will be presented at the beginning of the next lesson.</p><p>Teacher’s short story:</p><p>The Queen fell asleep on her throne. When she woke up she was only wearing a hat. Her uncomfortable crown and her jewels were gone. She called out to her royal guard and all the palace’s servants came running. The sovereign was missing. He went off in the carriage to woo Princess Mary of Denmark with his wife’s treasures.
