<p>MATH 1333 Math For Measurement</p><p>In MATH 1333, we claim that we address all seven of these EEOs from the list on the previous page. We have chosen to assess how well we are achieving EEO 4 this semester.</p><p>Since there is only one section of this course this semester (and probably for the foreseeable future), it is feasible to look at all the students’ papers and spreadsheets to analyze how to improve. </p><p>Specific Skills to assess. 1. Have the students use our linear and exponential modeling sheet templates to find the best-fitting parameter values and to determine which of these two models better fits a set of data, to give reasons for their choice, and to use the better model to make predictions. 2. Have the students develop, from a blank spreadsheet, a worksheet to determine the best set of parameters to fit given data by a different formula from the three for which we provided templates. (Maybe a power function or a rational function with no asymptotes in the relevant domain, etc.) </p><p>Assessing the results: Collect all the student papers of their reports of their work and answers to these. From these, determine where in the process students who are struggling are getting lost.</p><p>How we’ll use this to improve the course: Look at the half of the students who scored lowest on these and determine where each got lost that caused their errors. Make up additional worksheets and explanations of those parts. </p>
