<p>2018年 4月 4日</p><p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: Steve Scheffler 936-273-7224, desk</p><p>ONE-DAY SEMINAR FOR ENTREPRENEURS FOCUSES ON STARTING, OPERATING YOUR OWN BUSINESS</p><p>Nov. 17 Event is Hosted by the NHMCCD Small Business Development Center and Montgomery College’s Entrepreneurship Institute</p><p>Entrepreneurs with an interest in both starting and operating their own business have a unique opportunity to learn from some of the area’s most successful entrepreneurs—including Houston’s own Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale of Gallery Furniture.</p><p>On Saturday, Nov. 17, McIngvale will provide the opening keynote address at “The Entrepreneurial Venture,” a one-day seminar hosted by the Small Business Development Center of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District (NHMCCD) and the Entrepreneurship Institute of Montgomery College. </p><p>The seminar, which runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the NHMCCD District Services & Training Center (5000 Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands), will also feature leading experts presenting hour-long sessions on topics such as getting started, legal issues, financing, marketing, hiring/employment tips, and business plan creation.</p><p>The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring several entrepreneurs who’ve been through all facets of starting, growing and sustaining a small business.</p><p>“This is an incredible opportunity—not only for those who are considering making an entrepreneurial leap into starting a new business, but also for those who already operate a small business,” said Sal Mira, director of NHMCCD’s Small Business Development Center. “The issues covered in this seminar don’t just go away once you’ve launched your business. They stay with you. So, I see this as a great way to continue the learning process.” Seminar participants will receive the Entrepreneurial Venture Partners certificate upon completion of the day’s seven core workshops.</p><p>The seminar is limited to the first 75 individuals who register. Since 1986, the NHMCCD branch has counseled more than 6,000 clients, held more than 650 training programs, and helped to create hundreds of new jobs. The SBDC works with existing and startup companies to help them grow and compete in today's global economy. SBDC services are available for companies in every phase of the business life cycle, helping entrepreneurs make sound decisions and succeed.</p><p>The Montgomery College Entrepreneurship Institute, which is a joint initiative with Sam Houston State University (SHSU), includes an entrepreneurship club at both institutions.
