<p> Parking Services – Subcommittee of Building & Grounds Thursday, April 17, 2014 Minutes</p><p>Attendance - Indicated by Check mark.  Lundy, Mina; CSAC  Bowling, Ann; CONH (Chair) Johnson, Steve; USAC  Bukovinsky, David; RSCOB Gray, Megan; Student Gov.  Foster, Brandy CECS Spears, Sienna; Student Gov. Call to Order : Dr. Bowling called the meeting to order at 11:05pm</p><p>2.) March Meeting Minutes: Approved</p><p>3.) Discussion Items: The committee discussed the following items of old business:  Recommendations for Parking regarding the closure of Colonel Glenn Highway for road repairs in 2014 o Recommend that emails are sent to faculty, staff, and students regarding which entrance to use for which parking lots and to provide weekly updates by email. o See Attached for specifics on Construction Timeline.</p><p>4.) Discussion Items: The committee discussed the following items of new business:  Policing the Parking Lots – Questions answered by David Ratliff, Police Captain. o There are a total of 18 to 20 full-time police officers in the WSU Police Department. There are 2 to 4 officers patrolling all of the parking lots. o Response time to a call is 3 minutes. o Recommend the students use the Student Safety Patrol in the evening. There are typically 2 to 4 Student Safety Patrol members on each evening. Discussed possible use of Segways to increase the ability of the Student Safety Patrol members to be able to assist more people. o Some possible ideas to look at to help patrol parking lots and prevent theft presented by Brandy Foster regarding the possible use of “drones.”  Parking Ticketing Policies – Brandy Foster – Appeals Subcommittee o Brandy discussed some of the issues regarding repeat offenders and the need for strickter policies to prevent repeat offenders and to also help decrease the number of appeals. o University of Dayton has some really good policies in regards to this. o Will review are ticketing policies and appeals process in the Fall of 2014.  Parking Updates – Robert Kretzer – Parking Services o Lot 4 to be repaved this summer – working around orientation schedule will be completed by August – part of the parking lot will be open the whole time. Cost $667,000 – 1761 spaces.  Electric Car Station – Robert Kretzer o Working on this. DP&L would lide to give us one. Locations would be Student Union and Library.  Motorcycle Parking – Robert Kretzer o Lockable hang permit. o Should be parking in student lot not faculty lot if they are a student. o Need to work on ensuring motorcycles are not parking in the handicap care isle. o In the future, look into possibly having a designated motor cycle area.  Paving of the Prairie Grass – Robert Kretzer o Has been funded – plan is to start around May 15 and this would tentatively be added to the Lot 17 Parking.</p><p> Topics for the Next Meeting</p><p> o Reviewing and possible revision of ticketing and appeals policies. o Electric Car Charging Stations o Motorcycle Parking</p><p>5.) Adjournment The committee adjourned at 12:10pm. The next meeting will be in the Fall of 2014, Date and Time TBA. </p>
