<p>California State University, Sacramento, College of Continuing Education – Emergency Management & Homeland Security Certificate Program </p><p>The College of Continuing Education at California State University, Sacramento is currently pursuing the development of a certificate program in Emergency Management & Homeland Security. It is anticipated that the program, beginning in Fall 2005/Spring 2006, will prepare organizations and citizens to interact with local, state and federal emergency management and homeland security systems, as well as provide the necessary tools needed for a Business Continuity Plan. </p><p>Students will study the structure of the state and federal emergency services and homeland security systems, California’s Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), Emergency Services Act (ESA), California’s Emergency Plan, Robert T Stafford Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, Federal Homeland Security Act, Federal and State Grant Programs, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Local Assistance Centers and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and crisis communication. These topics will be explored through in-class discussions, learning teams and table top exercises. </p><p>The following topic areas are currently being explored as course offerings and when approved, will be offered for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). </p><p>Introduction to Emergency Services and Homeland Security (Prerequisite) Business Continuity Planning Preparedness and Response: NIMS, SEMS, EMAP and EMAC Recovery and Mitigation Disaster Grant Writing and Management Crisis Communication Exercise Design Intelligence Analysis Emergency/Disaster Medical System EOC Operations </p><p>Each course will be awarded 1.8 CEUs, the completed certification program will total 90 CEUs. </p><p>California State University, Sacramento is granted accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. </p><p>For more information: </p><p>Contact: Babette D.
