<p>Job Description</p><p>Post: Dental Career Development (Restorative)</p><p>Initially 1 year full time to start Wednesday 1st August 2012</p><p>Number of posts available: 1</p><p>Overview of Dental Career Development Posts</p><p>Job Description</p><p>Overview</p><p>Career development posts have been introduced for candidates who wish to continue with additional training in secondary care hospitals following completion of their Foundation Training. The posts are suitable for those dentists who, after completing Foundation Training, would like further experience prior to either applying for specialist training or considering further training as a dentist with special interest. </p><p>Successful applicants will initially be appointed for 12 months with an option to renew up to amaximum of a further 12 months. Renewal of the post would be subject to a satisfactory formal assessment on completion of the first 12 months. </p><p>The posts will be split into 6 month blocks commencing atNorth Manchester General Hospitalin August 2012 and rotating to the Dental Hospital in February 2013 to the speciality of Restorative Dentistry.</p><p>North Manchester General Hospital</p><p>Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is provided across four sites with North Manchester General Hospital being the main site for all inpatient and trauma services. The other three sites are Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, The Royal Oldham Hospital and Tameside General Hospital. The services that are provided are head and neck surgical oncology, facial deformity & orthognathic surgery, implantology, salivary gland surgery, skin cancer surgery, TMJ pathology, dentoalveolar surgery and exposure to a wide range of oral medicine conditions. The trainee will work in a well-supported environment with exposure to and experience in minor oral surgery lists/clinics plus treatments undergeneral anaesthetic as well. There are outpatient clinics to which the trainee will be required to attend.We can tailor the requirements of the trainee to help develop their area of interest. Involvement in both research and audit is encouraged and presentation experience will be available. There will be an on call commitment, which will provide a wide exposure to many forms of facial trauma and emergencies. </p>
