<p>Non-credit Student Recitals Marylhurst University Music Department</p><p>Last Update May 2009</p><p>The Department of Music encourages student performances beyond degree requirements. The department allows the use of university venues at no cost to the student under the following conditions: 1) The student has the approval of their applied teacher and their academic advisor. 2) The recital is a result of musical learning done through Marylhurst. 3) The student agrees not to charge admission, sell merchandise, or otherwise make money from the event. 4) The student refers to the recital as a “Student Recital” and not as a degree-required recital. The terms “Freshman / Sophomore / Junior / Senior Recital” or “Senior Project” are to be reserved for degree-required recitals. 5) There is no expectation by the student or their applied faculty that other faculty will be present, or that the recital be used for departmental assessment (audition, jury or primary performance exam). 6) Venues are scheduled according to university and department priorities. Department and degree-required events take precedence over non-required recitals. The department reserves the right to reschedule a non-credit recital.</p><p>Student Responsibilities The student should  Get their applied teacher and advisor’s approval before scheduling the recital with the department.  Promote and market their recital.  Create and make copies of recital program.</p><p>Department Responsibilities  Schedule the recital and add to university’s event calendar EMS database.  Add to department’s event calendar IF student has scheduled the recital before the academic term begins.</p><p>The department will NOT do the following:  Publish event on university website or in printed version of university calendar of events.  Edit or make copies of recital programs.
