<p>Reading Comprehension</p><p>Strategy: Concept Anchoring Routine</p><p>Appropriate Grade Level: 7th-12th grades</p><p>Procedures/Steps: * 3 Components: Known Concept Shared New Concept 1.) The Anchoring Table – Earth - Part of - Solar System The sun - Earth rotates - Rotation tie new information into what we already know Around sun by writing down what we already know about a Seasons - from rotation - Axis certain concept, then adding the new information, on axis Earth is part - 8 Planets and finally adding how the two areas can be of the 8 linked 2.) The Linking Steps – Linking Steps: Announce new concept This is a guide for teachers to go by that helps to Name known concept lead the class discussion about known and new Collect known information information, and how to fill in the table Highlight characteristics of both Compare 3.)
