
<p> Volunteer Role: Glasgow Social Programme Volunteer</p><p>Support Person Kelly Minio-Paluello, Service Manager</p><p>Role Purpose LGBT Health and Wellbeing aims to offer community members safe and inclusive spaces for LGBT people in which to have fun, meet with others and get involved in activities that promote health and wellbeing.</p><p>This role will support the Glasgow LGBT Community Project, a 3 year BLF funded project aiming to provide social opportunities in safe inclusive environments for LGBT people. This will include helping to deliver social such as the monthly drop-in, Rainbow Spoon, and larger events such as Pride, Community Discussions and other social activities. </p><p>Specific Tasks This role requires a monthly commitment of approximately 4- 6 hours per month. This would include planning & service delivery time. Specific tasks include: </p><p> Contribute ideas and suggestions for the running of the social event Help plan and promote the event Work with Service Manager to identify places to advertise the event At the event, help set up tables & chairs, tea & coffee Welcome new people Talk to people and help them feel comfortable and welcome Promote other LGBT Health and Wellbeing activities and services Alert staff to any concerns & uphold safe space Take responsibility for performing role in professional and safe way</p><p>Skills and Out-of-hours availability (evenings and/or weekends) to Qualities Needed attend training events and contribute to the delivery of the events programme Experience o Previous experience of organising and/or promoting events an advantage Knowledge o Knowledge and awareness of LGBTQI communities in Glasgow o Knowledge and awareness of issues affecting LGBT community Personal Skills o Reliability o Enthusiasm and commitment to creating and delivering a varied, successful and exciting events programme o Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing o Ability to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative o Confidence to approach and encourage people to become involved </p><p>Commitment Approx. 4-6 hours each month, but this varies depending on availability and programming. It is expected it would be more hours in the beginning and less once the event is up and running.</p><p>Support and All volunteers are required to attend a full day Induction Training Training course around the policies and ethos of the organisation and working with our clients Volunteers will be given ongoing individual support and 1:1 Support and Supervision from a named staff member approx. every 6 months Outside these meetings any issues of concern should be raised with your named person or Service Manager Ongoing training opportunities around relevant issues will be offered Reimbursement for public transport costs to and from events</p><p>Expectations of 1* Willingness to abide by LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s Volunteers Policies 2* Commitment to attend on-going support meetings and training 3* Co-operative in recording own time and activity contributions 4* Punctuality 5* Reliability in communication, especially to provide advance notice if unable to attend an event or meeting</p><p>Disclosure A basic disclosure is required for this volunteer role. Location of Glasgow – events are usually delivered in accessible events volunteering across the city. Occasional trainings will take place in Edinburgh, for which transport will be paid for.</p>
