<p> BURY SOCIETY FOR BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED PEOPLE</p><p>Job Description</p><p>Job Title: Fundraiser</p><p>Hours: 37 hours per week</p><p>Salary: As advertised</p><p>Responsible to: Chief Executive, Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People</p><p>Purpose;</p><p>To help to develop new income streams from major donors and charitable trusts to maximise the organisation’s income from these resources for discrete areas of expenditure and for general unrestricted funds.</p><p>Duties / Responsibilities:</p><p>1. To liaise with the Chief Executive, Board of Directors and other to identify areas of service development within the Society and to identify funding streams to support the initiatives</p><p>2. To Identify funding sources to enable the core business of the Society to continue.</p><p>3. To write funding bids to trusts, grant giving organisations and other major funders. 4. To undertake such research as is necessary to ensure that the Society, i.e. The Board and Chief Executive, is informed of any funding opportunities appropriate to the client group.</p><p>5. To take the lead on developing relationships and generate income from charitable trusts and major donors</p><p>6. To take lead responsibility to generate income of in excess of £160,000</p><p>7. To investigate, research and make approaches for new potential funding from trust and corporate organisations.</p><p>8. To monitor performance against set budget to ensure the achievement of targets and key performance indicators.</p><p>9. To represent the organisation to donors and potential donors, expounding our vision, purpose and achievements</p><p>10. To lead and develop a small fundraising support group and develop the work of Society volunteers in fundraising event organisation</p><p>11. To produce regular reports and statistical information to the Management Committee.</p><p>12. To practice and comply with all aspects of the organisations policies and procedures including the Society’s Health and Safety at Work policy</p><p>13. To work in partnership with the Chief Executive to identify opportunities for project development and ways of responding to needs of clients.</p><p>16. To seek to constantly improve the quality and effectiveness of the service.</p><p>17. To participate in opportunities for professional self development.</p><p>18. To undertake any reasonable tasks from time to time at the line manager’s request, as may be deemed appropriate within the scope of the post.</p><p>Work Context</p><p>The post operates within a small local Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People.</p><p>Primarily office based but there will be requirements to visit other organisations both local and regional in the course of the role.</p><p>The post holder will be working with people of all levels, internally and externally. The centre is busy and the post holder will be coming into contact daily with volunteers (sighted and visual impaired), service users and families and carers of visually impaired people. The post requires the ability to work with minimum supervision and to take initiative where necessary and appropriate, however the post holder will be accountable to the Chief Executive and to the Board of Directors</p><p>The post holder will be expected to make professional decisions on a daily basis, including evaluating fundraising proposals and ensuring that the message conveyed in communications is consistent with the broader organisational mission.</p><p>Communications</p><p>The post holder will use high level communication skills on a regular basis to influence decision making by others, this will include communications with trusts and donors in order to secure funding. Liaison within the organisation to ensure the production of cases to support information and fundraising bids will also form part of the role. Person Specification</p><p>Requirement Essential Desirable Knowledge Trust funding, organisational and major donor  giving Awareness of the effects of visual impairment  on individuals and families Skills Excellent inter personal skills  Presentation and report compilation skills  Organisational skills  Ability to meet deadlines  Good level of IT literacy and database  management Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent  vocational experience Fundraising certificate or diploma  Marketing certificate or diploma  Experience Trust fundraising experience of 2 years or  more Successful track record of achieving targets in  Trust and Major Donor fundraising Experience in researching prospects  Experience of dealing with individuals at a  senior level within organisations Experience of dealing with demanding  individuals Personal Qualities  Inspires credibility  Tact and diplomacy  Tenacity and resilience  Compassion and a regard for others  A belief in the abilities of people with visual  impairment</p>
