<p>Subject: Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) </p><p>Topic: Aisles - Required width in warehouses</p><p>Question: How wide does an aisle need to be in a warehouse facility?</p><p>Answer: According to MIOSHA standards, the definition of an “aisle” is, “…a path of travel for vehicles and employees.” There are various standards that have aisle requirements. The standard used to regulate a general warehouse is Part 1-General Provisions in which Rule 21(1) states, “When mobile equipment and an employee use the same aisle, dock or doorway, clearances shall be provided and maintained to assure safe passage for the equipment and employee. “</p><p>Below is a link to all General Industry safety standards where you can find the most up-to-date version of these standards, which also address aisles.
